We are excited to embark on a climate-friendly future with TPA as our new Main Partner and together bring climate action into the DNA of all companies! In this short interview, Karin Fuhrmann tells us why TPA is collaborating with Glacier, what role climate action plays in their company, and what further steps are planned.
What role does climate action play at TPA?
We only need to take a look at current news to recognise that ecological and social sustainability are highly topical and pressing issues. Climate action has been a major concern of ours for a long time, and we are actively implementing various measures in this regard. For example, one of the reasons our largest office location was chosen to be the ICON Vienna was the building's fulfilment of high construction-economic and ecological standards. Among other things, geothermal energy and groundwater are used to increase energy efficiency and to promote resource conservation in the building. In addition, this has made commuting by public transport much easier for our employees and clients.
We also observe among our clients that sustainability has long since moved from a former niche into the mainstream. This means it is explicitly demanded in the market – across all levels, whether real estate, investments, or other acquisitions and projects.
We are convinced – and we see this in our daily work – that economic growth and climate action mutually benefit each other, and that many new ideas and projects will emerge from these new impulses.
Which climate action measures are already being implemented at TPA?
Since we are a classic service company and our core business lies in consulting, we focus on our energy consumption and the efficient use of resources.
In 2020, we subjected all fourteen of our Austrian TPA locations to an external energy audit. The focus of the audit was compliance with the Energy Efficiency Act in accordance with EN 16274. Of the over 16,300 m² of office space across Austria, 53% is already managed according to building-ecological criteria or sustainably.
To live up to our responsibility for climate action, in 2020 we decided to implement carbon management at TPA and thus make our contribution to reducing greenhouse gases. Our goal is to ensure climate-neutral operations by 2030.
Why did TPA decide on a Main Partnership with Glacier?
We are deeply convinced of the work Glacier is doing and want to support the company in the best possible way. Within the framework of the Glacier Climate Academy, we want to share our expertise in sustainability reporting and motivate as many companies as possible and make them 'fit' for their own sustainability report. In any case, we are already very much looking forward to a good and inspiring collaboration!
What is planned for the future?
In our sustainability report, we have defined concrete goals which we will implement through specific measures within a set timeframe. A few examples of our goals are organising at least 50% of TPA events as Green Events, monitoring waste volumes, and introducing an energy management system according to ISO 50001.
And as already mentioned, our long-term goal is to be entirely climate-neutral by 2030 at the latest.
