  • Human Resources: Take a close look at your business travel policies. For example, require that business trips under 800 kilometers be made only by train. Tie incentive systems and executive bonuses to climate targets, or reward employees who commute to work in a particularly climate-friendly way.

  • Production: You know the product best and know where to start to make it more climate-friendly. Make sure that every new product is more climate-friendly than its predecessor.
  • IT Services: Introduce a repair policy that requires electronic devices to be repaired first. Set up climate-friendly default settings, such as black-and-white and double-sided printing.
  • Purchasing and Procurement: Prioritize sustainability as a purchasing criterion. Consider the carbon footprint when buying, or check whether a product is reusable, recyclable, or regenerative.

There is potential for greater climate action everywhere in the company. We just need to make use of it.

Be a Climate Ranger too: Think about what you can do in your position and department, and inspire your colleagues and managers with your ideas and motivation. Think together about how processes within the company can be made more climate-friendly.

It's up to you to take the first step. And even if you don't yet know what it should look like, you can still do something. Talk to three people about climate change and tell them what you learned in this article. If they do the same, the entire world population would know in just three weeks. So, let's get started!
